About poetry

Sometimes I write to myself. To encourage myself. To empower myself. To widen my perspective. To love myself. To counter all the voices in my head telling me the opposite. To cleanse. To reduce the confusion. To enter the gray zone. To spit. To yell. To sing. To whisper. To exist.

Poetry is powerful, and while some say we write for others, I concur. We write to the other in ourselves and this is what readers relate to. No poem is ever written to only talk to others. A poem is a conversation in itself.

(And this makes me very happy.)
