witch hazel wet with cooling rain i am choosing to have a choice
This is a concept I have to relearn on repeat. In new settings, with different people, in changing living conditions. It stands in high contrast to what I have learnt in childhood. Way back then, all I learnt to be true was: nothing changes. All choices are on behalf of guaranteeing safety. My choices are not truly my choices.
When I now say I am choosing to have a choice, it means I choose to leave unhealthy circumstances which hindered me to have a choice. This widens my outlook, offers new angles. There, I really do have a choice.
