The White Rose

I’m very grateful that prune juice included this poem of mine in their issue #45. It is a heavy and multi-layered one.

*The White Rose (German: Weiße Rose) was a non-violent, intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany which was led by five students and one professor at the University of Munich. The group conducted an anonymous leaflet and graffiti campaign that called for active opposition to the Nazi regime. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose

Keep being loud against injustice and harmful rhetorics. Democracy is nothing easy or self-evident, nor is it perfect. What it is though: needed. Good enough. Better than. And just as good as we make it, so let’s protect it.

Don’t repeat the past. Listen and learn, and don’t let people pull your heartstrings to manipulate you into believing easy answers to complex problems, please.
