In Bashō’s old pond, I found that the frog’s action is what makes it significant…. He jumps into the sound! But yeah, what about the frog sitting contentedly in what he’s been given, a simple puddle of water. That’s fine too, folks. He’s still a frog.
Take that metaphorically as you will! Maybe it’s about old and new haiku writing…. Maybe about philosophy of life. Maybe about ego, identity or Zen. It’s up to you :).
