More or less…

sits in a puddle,
not a bit less
frog

In Bashō’s old pond, I found that the frog’s action is what makes it significant…. He jumps into the sound! But yeah, what about the frog sitting contentedly in what he’s been given, a simple puddle of water. That’s fine too, folks. He’s still a frog.

Take that metaphorically as you will! Maybe it’s about old and new haiku writing…. Maybe about philosophy of life. Maybe about ego, identity or Zen. It’s up to you :).

    Great poem and koan too!
I really like it. Will sit with it.

Do you know the Scarlet Dragonfly? Our former classmate Marilyn introduced it to me. Their submissions are open Dec 1-25, now… just in case you have any poems lying around…
I saw Jerome in there, too!

    It’s a sunshine day.

Thank you, also for the suggestion! I’m a bit occupied with other projects at the moment, but maybe when the mood strikes me later this month ;).

sometimes a good thought poem is a double whammy.
if it takes us down roads that we grow from.
