After that whirlwind of receiving a Touchstone Award for my haibun “All These Things”, (yes, I have, oh damn, I haven’t shared that with you on here) … oh damn, stop, Kati. Okay. Slow down.
My very first haibun that had been accepted by a journal (The Haibun Journal, issue 5.1) got nominated, and went from the long list to the short list to the winners!! I am so happy! It is a personally important one, and you can read it here including the commentary of the panel of judges.
But what I originally wanted to share with you is that I got interviewed on the blog of The Haiku Foundation, and I enjoyed doing it so much. They told me to have fun, and I had it, and I hope you will have a fun time as well reading it! Please head to their New To Haiku feature and explore their site, when you are already there, there is so much good gathered!
I am extremely grateful for all the encouragement, support and kind words that people have sent me in response to my interview!
I got a message via the contact form of this site which blew me away yesterday. Somewhere in the U.S. my “Be headstrong and obstinate in pursuing art” is going up on the poetry board at a school. Like whaaaaat?! YES! Nothing else makes me so happy as encouraging others in creating and pursuing art.
I will definitely write about that :), and also answer another question they asked me! Right now, I’m just trying to navigate my lack of mental energy. Just gimme some downtime first.
See you on the other side <3!
